Glazed in a rich, burnt cinnamon red, this gorgeous garlic keeper features a hand sculpted metallic squirrel holding a Lake County Diamond in its paws. Perfect for use as a luminary or garlic roaster, too.
This exquisite little garlic jar, like the other pottery available from WildCrowFarm, is not production pottery and the only one in existence due to the single firing schedule and variability of the hands of the artist and the unpredictability in high-fire pottery.
Description
Glazed in a rich, burnt cinnamon red, this gorgeous garlic keeper measures approx. 4 1/4″ wide x 5 1/4″ tall from bottom to top of the squirrel’s ears on the lid. It will keep your garlic nicely and can be used for other treasures, too ~ even a luminary when the lid is off. Great for roasting single heads of garlic. A smaller keeper, this piece holds approx. 1 1/2 cups ~ 1-3 large cloves, or more smaller cloves.
Created from white sandy Northern California clay (some from my own farm), the base is wheel thrown and impressed with a vine and leaf detail surrounding the base. The beautifully styled lid is hand formed with pine bough impressions surrounding a hand sculpted metallic squirrel. Then, everything is hand glazed with food safe, oven safe, dishwasher safe glazes. Please do not put this piece in the microwave.
The glazes on this piece are simply gorgeous! To add interest and a touch of uniquely native sparkle, I’ve fired a raw Lake County Diamond into the squirrel’s paws. You can read more about Lake County Diamonds on this site’s blog.
-Stoneware fired to over 2200 degrees for durability and ease of use and cleaning. The bottoms are unglazed and feature our maker’s mark.
-Please note that all of our stoneware pottery is hand crafted and no molds are used in the creation of our vessels, so please expect variations in hand applied glaze techniques and shapes. This ensures that your piece(s) are always one of a kind, and priceless.
